Movie reviews: Sex and the City: The Movie

Charlotte and Miranda grab her tightly, and as Big goes to say something, Charlotte looks at him, face full of rage, and screams, "Don't." During the first few days in Mexico, Carrie doesn't wear makeup, doesn't eat, and sleeps every day. There is a very emotional scene where each of the three friends turns off the light in Carrie's room, only to have the next friend turn it on to check on her. Finally, when it is Samantha's turn, she gets Carrie to eat a bite of food, slowly feeding it to her. Carrie asks if the whole thing has been a dream, and when she learns that it hasn't been, she simply sighs and goes back to sleep. The entire situation was relatable to me, and was reminiscent of many of my own breakups. It was probably one of the most accurate onscreen breakup scenes I've ever witnessed. The relationships between all of the characters were completely genuine and believable; there was sincerity in all of them that one doesn't see very often in films today. All of the acting was top notch and believable, and that paired with an excellent script made what I consider one of the best films of the summer.

So whether you're a fan of the television series or are just looking for something good to check out on a Friday night, "Sex and the City" is a must see. While trends may have come and gone along with the show, it is clear that the girls of "Sex and the City" will never go out of style.
