completely wrapped up in planning her fairy-tale wedding, forgetting Mr. Big's desire for simplicity. Despite this slight clash of feelings, things are floating along fine until Steve shows up at the rehearsal dinner. He asks to speak to Miranda outside, begging for her forgiveness. Miranda, however, only becomes more upset with him, storming inside and telling Big that he and Carrie are foolish to get married. This freezes Big's already cold feet, and after some messy miscommunication, he leaves Carrie standing at the alter the next day.
Fortunately for Carrie, she has her three best friends to fall back on. Instead of ditching the honeymoon she had planned for herself and Mr. Big, she decides to bring Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte along for the ride. The three friends nurse the devastated Carrie back onto her feet, and by the time they return to New York, she is ready to try and pick up the pieces of her life. She hires a personal assistant, Louise (Jennifer Hudson), launches a website, and attempts to start her new book. Avoiding all calls and letters from Big, Carrie finds herself single in the city again, and is reminded of just how lonely things can be. She spends both New Years Eve and Valentine's Day with Miranda, who is still separated from Steve, too stubborn to forgive him. A good movie review never spoils a film's ending, but I will say that by the end of the film Charlotte receives a pleasant surprise, Samantha makes a change for the better, and both Carrie and Miranda find what truly makes them happy.
"Sex and the City" is a show that applies to both women and men, and can be enjoyed by anyone from around the age of sixteen to oh, I don't know, eighty? Let's just put it this way; I'm a nineteen year old girl that went to see it with my forty-seven year old mother and fifty-seven year old aunt. The three of us laughed, cried, and were captivated by the gorgeous fashion showcased. The film, like the HBO series, has just about everything anyone could look for in a movie. There are raunchy sex scenes, all types of humor, gorgeous men and women, crazy fashion, and above everything else, honest views of love, friendship, and dating. I think the honesty is one of the things that strike me the most about both the film and the series. Many complain that it's impossible to relate to the four leading ladies, with all of their fashion, money, crazy sex, and perfect bodies, but the show is grounded by its honesty in its portrayals of life and love.
