The Butterfly and the Scorpion
There was once a butterfly that was the most beautiful butterfly in all of the forest. Every creature in the forest marveled at her beauty. But, the butterfly's mind had been twisted by her miserable life. She felt it had been so cruel a life that she would no longer drink from the sweet flowers in the forest. she believed that she did not deserve the sweet flowers; anymore.
One day the butterfly was sitting alone in a dark part of the forest, when she was approached by a scorpion. The scorpion was surprised to see the beautiful butterfly so depressed. So the scorpion asked what could make her so sad. The butterfly responded by telling him about how miserable her life had been. When the butterfly had finished, the scorpion offered her relief from the pain in her life. Despite the sincerity of the scorpion, the butterfly would not allow him to get close, for fear of being stung. And away flew the butterfly.
On her way away from the scorpion, she met a dove. the dove asked the Butterfly why she was in such a hurry. The butterfly then told the dove about the scorpion and how he had tried to charm her into his embrace so that he could sting her. The dove was sympathetic and offered the butterfly a life of peace and love. The butterfly was charmed by the dove and they flew away together. The butterfly felt so much better, more so than she had in a long time. Once they were away from the forest, the dove looked over at the the butterfly, told her how beautiful she was; then he ate her!
Moral of the story: Don't talk to strangers. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Happiness is in the eye of the beholder. Take what you will from it, I had one person that wanted me to rewrite the ending because to her it represented something totally different from the true intent that it was written. She saw that the scorpion represented evil, the butterfly represented man, and the dove represented Jesus Christ; at least until she got to the end. I finally gave in and wrote a happier ending for my special friend. This is the original draft. This one was written for my personal "Janis Joplin"; love those Texas Redheads! We met in the parking lot of Hasting's (a media retail store) in Tyler, TX. She blew my mind and we clicked in every way, and my stalker messed it all up for me. I really hated losing her over a misunderstanding. So I went home sulking, and probably drunk, and wrote this for here and slipped it in the wing window of here 1971 Volkswagon Super Beetle. That was the last ime I ever saw or spoke to her again.
