I follow your word
Hide it deep in my heart
Though really I wonder
Of a subject so tart
You've kept me, taught me your way
Still I question and stumble, to this very day
Not surprising, for you made it quite clear
That we'd be hated, tested, from year to year
Until you return, though long that may be
I'll stay steadfast, for it's in you that I'm free
...but Father I ask, my hand in yours
Will I ever have love, from very different shores?
For your ocean is vast, your love deeper still
Emotion and forgiveness, brings to me a chill
Yet despite that, such things of bliss
I haven't found wholeness, or love's sweet kiss
I've read and I've studied, Matthew 6:33
And I apply it with fervor, as it is my key
So now I stand before you, your hand in mine
Jaded green eyes, begging a question to the divine
There you respond, with a nod and a tear
And it's then I realize, the answer, so near
It's there that I see, what you used to relate
For it's now that I read, Romans 8:28

God show me your mercy
As only you can do
Fill me with your strength and forgiveness
And open the doors I need
I am a Christian proud and tall
But ever day I feel my pain
my faith begins to fall
