Understanding the law of attraction

by Mayra M

Created on: June 25, 2008

After thinking about the "law of attraction" for sometime now, my common sense tells me that the law of attraction is nothing more but a not well thought out propaganda intended to make a lot of that good old cash. It is easy to get caught up in the media hype if we are not careful, since the media has done a very good job of convincing us that what they say is not only true but also a reliable source of information. We're all under the assumption that all claims are being thoroughly researched and all information scrutinized before being disseminated to the public. And, we're all also under the assumption that no one lies or that money is not a major driver for deceiving the public. Oprah has been one to promote "The Secret," and although she is a human being and as much likely to fall for a scam as the average person, she should have her people dig deeper into things before endorsing and promoting anything to the public, but I am sure that like us they trusted these individuals credentials and good intentions. The problem with this is that when fame and fortune are involved in any endeavor self delusion can override someone's ability to think and act for the highest good of all, and the tendency is to support your own efforts even when you have no way of knowing whether what you are claiming is true or not. And if you really want to push the envelope or are in a real bind to find proof for what you're saying you get God involved, when God has nothing to do with your purpose or intention.

But you know, the real issue with all of these scams is that they help perpetuate the world's level of ignorance, the number one cause of unhappiness in a person's life. We're living in the 21st century, so by now you'd think we would know better than to believe that an inanimate object or anything created has any power of its own. And to believe that a concept given to man as a tool to understand his world such as a number has any power of its own is beyond belief. Lets take for instance the absurdity of number 13 being an unlucky number. Who assigned such claim to the number, a human mind capable of good and evil or the number? So, you can see that not even the numbers get any respect when people don't care to take responsibility for their own actions. I don't think that we need any type of evidence to conclude in the 21st century that the world of effects has no significance other than what it is, a bunch of stuff for us to create, look at, work with, and enjoy. We're all
