Self-help is a 9 billion dollar a year industry that continues to grow every year, but who is really being helped? People are continuing to buy books like hot cakes with the hope of healing themselves, finding love, and becoming wealthy; all healthy desires that are attainable but not with the unrealistic and empty promises and "easy-to-follow steps" being preached by the self-help industry. The harsh reality is that no book no amount of money or teacher can change your life without you doing the necessary inner work. Instead of telling people the truth, we have created a "quick fix" vicious cycle leading millions of people astray, angry, afraid, and feeling hopeless about their lives, but quite motivated to purchase another book. And we would say, but why does God allow this to happen? Because God is not the one buying the books and expecting the easy way out. He cannot control the beings he created because that would defeat his own purpose of creating an individual whom he has given the power to think and rationalize on his own. Only a human being would think that he or she can control another human being. Why do you think you get so upset when people try to control you? Because you know that you are not here to be controlled, but to make your own decisions and live your life the way you want to live it. A big lesson for me was this, as long as I continue to buy what doesn't work, I am not going to get the right answer I am looking for and I will continue to buy more books and no change is what I will continue to get. The only thing I am doing is helping others make millions while I turn away from change.
We are here in this world to face our problems and conquer them and not to put a band-aid on them and pretend they never happened. It is through problems and difficulties that we learn what works and what doesn't work in our lives. It is through adversity that we learn to value what's real in life. You will never learn truth and courage by hiding from yourself. If you can't face your problems there are people who have dedicated their lives to learn to help you. They are called psychologists, therapists, and counselors, people of God just like you, seek them out and find the one that is right for you. Do it with the intention of getting the support you need to do your inner work without expecting this person to take charge of your life as that would defeat the whole purpose. Now more than ever people are chosing to give away their personal power/power to choose
