How do you know how to recognize if it is true love

I've always wondered why do we classify love into two separate categories. Is true love better than just love? I think not. For me "true love" is of a romantic nature and sort of signifies the ideal kind of love I desire to experience with that special person. I like the term "true love" because it carries hope within itself inspiring us not to give up our search, even when past relationships don't work out. But what is "true love"? Have you ever heard the saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you might get it all"? There is an immense amount of truth hidden within these words, because it is so easy to wish a dream and see it all magical and wonderful while you are dreaming it, but we seldom stop think what's really involved or what is it that we ourselves need to do to make such wish or dream come true. True love is by far one of the most beautiful experiences worth pursuing, but there's no easy or simple way to describe its harsh reality when you are not prepared. Like with any other life endeavor, true love needs to be understood and most often than not we are going to need to change ourselves because we do not yet possess the qualities that we seek in partner making it difficult to attract the person of our dreams, let alone sustain the relationship.

True love is about loving another being unconditionally and that means that no matter what he or she may say or do, you don't judge or criticize because you know that by doing so you are hurting yourself, your partner and the relationship. It is about maintaining complete privacy in your personal affairs and absolutely under any circumstances are you to speak negatively of your partner regardless of the situation. No matter what others may say or think about your partner, you always stand up and support him or her. It is about loving the essence of the human being rather what they have or what they look like. It is about embodying yourself with understanding and humility toward this human being that you love. And you might say, "But this is impossible. This would mean that I would have to become someone's doormat and what about me?" It would be impossible to accomplish the above once you are in a relationship with someone you are not compatible with. For this reason we need to plan our love life before it happens not after. We all know that the only power we have is to change ourselves. We need to give thought to the kind of person we want to spend our lives with and be prepared to make the necessary personal changes to make the relationship work. If we want someone to be caring, generous, and respectful we need to possess those qualities ourselves. This is where it gets challenging because you have to become your toughest critic yet your best teacher. It is a process of transformation like nothing you've ever experienced. You are basically relearning how to look at yourself and other people in order to experience a true connection with everything that surrounds you. If you want true love you must live it before it happens.

It is through the process of learning to love another being that you begin to love yourself because you are able to feel and appreciate your own goodness and compassion toward another person. And then there's the ultimate test of "true love". When two beings and truly in love they get married; as within so without; we all do what we believe and a true union of the heart and spirit recognizes the need for a commitment where separation is never wanted. No one wants to be separated from someone who really understands him or her and where he or she is trusted to go about life in complete freedom to be who he or she really is. .
