Robert Mugabe and the Zimbabwe crisis

I went to school In South African in the 80's and even then people were fleeing the clutches of Mugabe's horrible regime. It has been a torrid time for Zimbabweans ever since he got into power but it seems only now the world are taking notice.

Power is the ultimate thing to have. Some have money, but some have money and power and this is a totally different scenario. When someone has power they can do almost anything. If we look at Celebrities, and look at say Russell Crowe; he thinks he owns the planet and can do what he likes. Sometimes he doesn't get what he wants so he causes a rant.

Sadly this is what happens to a lot of people who have power, and in Robert Mugabe's instance he has become Hitler and Idi Amin like. He will do anything to cling onto power, and ever since he got into power he has resorted to violence. He has kicked out the whites by taking away their farms, either by driving them away or murdering them. Politian's in general are not interested in keeping people happy; they are interested in their power and their own future. Mugabe has taken it to another level, not only does he not care about his country or people he lets them starve too.

Every time I hear of sanctions being imposed on Zimbabwe I think to myself the only people that will suffer are the people who live there and not Mugabe. I often wonder why so many people support such a man. His army is causing violence towards the opposition supporters, and there is so much violence that the outside world is taking notice. Maybe they support him in the same way as people supported Sadam Hussein, because of the fear factor. If they don't they could be killed.

There is no way to negotiate with a man like this; there is nothing to stop a man like this. He will either die in power or someone will capture and kill him. The latter does not seem very likely, after all what does Zimbabwe have to offer? Also the only way I see him being captured is if another Iraq type war was sprung onto the country. I for one do not wish to see yet more innocent people being killed, but on the other hand I wish this man could be taken out.

Sadly we will in time hear of more dictators ruining their country. The world is not going to get better it will get worse and leaders in general will get worse. In England we have already have Tony Blair who lied and he still wins another election?! In America George Bush caused an uproar starting the war in Iraq and he too won another election! In Zimbabwe Mugabe still has a very strong force behind him and yet you and I do not understand how this is possible.

The sad thing about human kind is we are very greedy. If we have a million in the bank we want another million. If we have a big house with four bedrooms we want one with five. I don't think Mugabe can get enough of the money rolling in either. He lives in luxury and wants more and more, while most of his people live in squalled conditions - so what? As long as he is comfortable that is all that matters.
