The Light
verse 1
These feelings burn, baby burn so bright,
like a shooting star way up far across this lonely night,
these feelings glow, like the girl I used to know,
the way she shimmered and shined, always blew my mind,
why did you have to go?
refrain
And as I watch the sun set, you know I'll never forget,
the light you gave to me,
every smile like a sun rise,
bringing tears to my eyes,
maybe its just this light you gave to me,
a light I'll always see.
verse 2
This heart sings,
sings a bitter song,
about how hard it is just to get up and live,
knowing that your'e gone,
and this heart cries,
with the rise of the changing tide,
waves that will crash over a rocky past,
that we both tried to hide.
refrain
And as I watch sun set, you know I'll never forget,
this light you gave to me,
every smile like the sun rise,
bringing tears to my eyes,
maybe its just this light you gave to me,
a light to shine for an eternity.
verse 3
This soul knows,
knows all too well,
that without this light to guide me through the night,
that I might wind up in hell,
and this soul sees,
past the horizon and through the trees,
somewhere your spirit rests as I pass this test,
because in the end all there is is me.
Refrain
And as I watch the sun set, you know I have no regrets,
with this light you gave to me,
as dim as it gets,
you know I'll never forget,
everything you've done for me,
now in this light I've found my destiny.
