Testimonies: I want the fairy-tale wedding!

My wedding was a fairy-tale. Ironically, I was never one to fantasize a great deal about wedding details prior to being engaged. However, from the moment that beautiful engagement ring touched my finger, the dreaming began. Our wedding would be a very traditional one that was certain.

We decided to get married in April, a beautiful month for a wedding, which would only allow us three and a half months to plan. With the help of my mother, I raced to get things done. The wonderful thing about a short engagement was that all decisions had to be final, there was no time to second guess.

The guest list was a lengthy one, as I was marrying into a large Spanish family, and yes, even distant cousins expected an invitation. The invitations were lovely, white silk-screened and tied with a bow. The writing was traditional and formal. My dress was stunning, strapless and white, with pearl and crystal embroidery running down the train. Much to my amazement, it was the very first dress I tried on. My bride look was completed with a lovely pearl and crystal tiara and a delicate lace veil that fell to the middle of my back. My jewelry consisted of a simple pair of pearl and diamond earrings which was accented by the strings of pearls worn by my bridesmaids.

The ceremony was held in quaint and pretty little church, where the light shone in through the stained glass windows lining the walls. Beautiful combinations of hibiscus', hydrangeas and white roses decorated the pews and an arch that we stood beneath. The bridal party walked down the aisle to Bach played on the piano and my father and I cascaded down the aisle to the traditional wedding march. The ceremony was officiated by our pastor and my husband and I shared in communion as our first act as a married couple. The rows were filled with friends and strangers blotting teary eyes and snapping photos as my father serenaded us by singing the wedding song.

The reception was across town, and my husband and I reveled at the monumental event that was occurring in our lives as we were chauffeured over to join our guests. The wedding party posed for pictures on a beautiful marble stair case, while our guests enjoyed a lavish cocktail hour. It was a standing room only when the DJ announced our arrival into our gorgeous candle-lit ballroom and we participated in our first dance as husband and wife.

The evening flew by in a sort of dreamy whirlwind as we greeted our guests, cut into our beautiful three tiered wedding cake and danced the night away. Before long it was time to depart to our honeymoon suite, we said our goodbyes and spent the next hour reminiscing on what was the perfect venue for starting our new life together.
