In my country its not the duty of the people to identify effective means to coping with increasing cost of oil. We have asked our government to think on it, act on it and to design some mechanism, revise economic policy, and so on. This is the very sad part of my country. We never think ourselves the duty bearers rather we always fight for our right.
The rise in price in my country immediately results number of strikes, bandhas, and dharanas. We have hundred numbers of political parties and each one will "celebrate" strikes differently. So the public is bound to face this for more than 5 days. Communication will stop, passengers will stop in the mid journey and will face enormous difficulties, few people will not get food stuffs, and few patients will die in the road as they can not reach the hospital etc. I do not know why we do that and ultimately it does not give any positive result. Price goes on rising and by such strikes these fools damage properties and commodities of crores of rupees. This damage has a significant effect on price rise also.
This time when the oil price increased the state government of different states of India cut down the sale tax on it to show their concern for the common people. In my country there is huge subsidy from the government on the oil products like, petrol, diesel and cooking gas. The increase in cost of oil is inevitable and with time it will definitely increase. Our economic condition is also increasing day by day so as the cost of other things will increase. We have to accept this simple reality of economics and act rationally. When we do not have much money we control our expenditure. We always save for our future. But when it comes to natural resources we do not care, we try to exploit it as much as we can.
Actually the rising cost of oil provides political mileage to the opposition of Indian government. Each party goes against the government and starts creating unsociable situation and the law and order watch this only, because there is no one to say against strike and dharana. But in one sense it is a severe crime. The immediate effect of the rise in the cost oil is the seen in the rise of price in each and every commodity. Transportation, communication cost increases. The increased cost in transportation and communication forced to increase the cost of everything as commodities are transfer through the vehicles. So the cost of food, cloths, housing material, medicine everything increases. Ultimately the poor people suffer a lot.
Besides the subsidy and cut of the duty by the government some other measures are being taken by the government for the alternative arrangement of oil. Measures like promoting solar energy and encouraging the people to adopt this is one of it. Now pumps, vehicles, run by solar energy are being promoted. Now a days vehicles run by electricity are being promoted and people are taking interest in it too. The most significant move is the effort to produce bio diesel. The farmers are encouraged to cultivate jatropha and huge subsidy is promised to them for the cultivation of this plant. Constructions of bio diesel plants are initiated and this bio diesel will be very cheaper. But this move has not been made so systematically. I say if proper process are followed and with systematic arrangement this bio diesel can be produced in huge amount and this will be of very much sustainable in nature.
