The best Bastille Day celebrations in France

One of the best Bastille Day celebrations in France can be found at Champs Elysees from July 13th to July 14th. An annual free event that begins upon Bastille Eve, July 13th, with dancing in the Bastille square and at various Balls around the city. The outdoor Gay Ball occurs with history at bay. The Incredible Picnic is one of the largest in the world. The firefighters are usually the star attraction as their uniforms providing an attraction for the ladies. This celebration lasts all day until the night events. Thousands of people meet later at the Champ-de-Mars to witness the spectacular fireworks.

Bars and clubs stage their own celebrations. Each village in France has their own fireworks, dance, champagne, street activities and more. The next morning would be Bastille Day, July 14th. This day begins with a parade at 10 am as children and adults of France align to see this great sight. This military parade is led by the President as jets fly in sequence overhead along with a march of soldiers. At nightfall the sights of a second and final round of fireworks burst into the sky as onlookers celebrate their liberties and independence each July 14th. One of the best ways to honor and celebrate Bastille Day in France.

Bastille by definition means a jail or a prison. Bastille Day means just the opposite. The transformation of France began with the gathering of commoners having great hopes that creating the French Revolution would bring about change. America influenced France commoners by way of the American Revolution a short time prior to. Since the commoners made up 96% of France back then, they made their stance. It was said that a meeting in the tennis courts began the blueprint to the French Revolution since the Third Estate, the commoners, were locked out of the meetings with the higher Estates. The commoners burst into the fortress and stormed the Bastille Prison by which had been the symbol of repression and injustice on the date of July 14, 1789. King Louis XVI ended up under house arrest as the corrupt aristocracy has been filtered. The guillotine fell upon King Louis XVI in front of the entire town ending his moment as the thrown. The commoners fought for their freedom and independence from the rule of King Louis XVI and corrupt aristocracy which constitutes this as their French Revolution and results in their Bastille Day celebration.

The Centennial celebrations were said to be a great event in 1889. Bastille Day was honored by the building of the Eiffel
