When most people travel on vacation they consider places like London, Paris, Milan and the Bahamas but what about the beautiful nations that grace the landscape of Africa? Not just your usual Cairo, Johannesburg or Casablanca but the secret jewel of Africa, Ghana. Ghana is the first Sub-Saharan African nation to gain its independence. Ghana set the standard for other African nations to follow suit when it finally broke free from British colonial rule back on March 6, 1957. Led by the extraordinary Pan-Africanist revolutionary Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana was the small West African nation that made a big resounding noise throughout the continent of Africa and subsequently throughout the world when it restore dignity and grace to the nation that was reminiscent of the days of the Asante empire. Today Ghana is still making a lot of noise in a big way as many people have taken interest in this small coastal nation that once boast some of the most magnificent African empires in Antiquity. Ghana lies to the east of Cote d'Ivoire and to the west of Togo. The capital of Ghana is Accra and each year Ghana sees an influx of tourists from all over the world who anxiously await to see the beautiful sites and sounds of Ghana and all that it has to offer. The best time of year to travel to Ghana is during the Summer and Spring seasons, although the climate in Ghana remains tropical all year around. The native language is both English and Twi (Akan) and the people there (Ghanaians) are known to be some of the most friendliest people in the world.
