I debated whether or not to say anything on this issue. I debated because it requires me to address another article in this section. Another article in this section sounds dangerously close to what happened in Germany to various groups during the Holocaust, and the word "camps" is specifically used.

We're right now witnessing gestapo style tactics being used to raid largely Hispanic neighborhoods, with scores of people leaving places like a town in Oklahoma, with police randomly asking those of Latino heritage the equivalent of "are your papers in order?" which smacks of not only Nazi Germany, but apartheid era South Africa, as well.

I read an article out of a local paper somewhere in the midwest which actually used the words "the illegal question" which sounded EXACTLY, for obvious reasons of syntax, like "the Jewish question."

Beyond all things which should be obvious to anyone who's ever read a post WWII book, doesn't it strike anyone else out there in Cyberland that the issue of illegal immigration wasn't even on our collective radar screens before this war? I urge y'all to watch "Wag the Dog." What's happening is that Bush and his cronies are taking our collective, already held hatred for Latinos and exploiting it: also very Nazi-esque.

So what would a "military solution" solve, exactly? And the fact that we're using words like "solution" should be chilling to all Americans. Strike that: it should be chilling to anyone who is a member of the species Homo sapiens.

I'd like to take this time to extend an offer to all readers out there. Show me any American who's had their job taken away by an "illegal" (research 'labeling theory'), and I'll give you personally a thousand dollars. Hell, I'll give you a million dollars. Why am I so free and easy with this offer? Because the belief that immigration, illegal or not, is doing anything even remotely deleterious to us as a country is as silly as believing Godzilla will attack San Francisco, or that Champy will saunter out of Lake Champlain and gobble up all the residents of upstate New York.

This is racism. And discussing "the question" about a largely hated group has already been done. And if anyone's NOT aware with the Martin Neimoller poem "First they Came," I'd also urge that that be read and studied and taken to heart.

When will YOU be deemed as somehow "unacceptable" in this culture?
