Aspen is located 90 miles east of Grand Junction, high in the Elk Mountains branch of the Rockies, in the western part of Colorado and has a beautiful 3.5 square mile landscape abundant with aspen trees, as the name implies.

Aspen is now an upscale tourist center and a ski resort. Aspen has hour major ski areas: Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands, and Aspen Mountain. Ice skating is another recreational idea for tourists while in Aspen.

For the sporty tourists there is golf, tennis, biking, and swimming. Rafting and Kayaking are available to those looking for an adventure; including the whitewater experience.

Aspen is host to a large amount of festivals and competitions during the year, so something is nearly always going on for tourists to tour. Trendy local stores and outlets make shopping for tourists a breeze. For tourists interested in the arts, there is a concert hall, a theater, and numerous art galleries.
For families with children and teens, there is a nearby outdoor paintball ranch with many different games to choose from. There is also a kid's camp at certain times during the year for children and teens. Also available for tourists, are biking, mountainboarding and skateboarding lessons for all ages.

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport, Aspen's only airport, makes the city easily accessible. The city also provides a very reliable, and free, shuttle service for tourists use while in town that provides all the essential services to all sorts of destinations. For transportation service throughout the valley, tourists can use the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority to get to the airport and the city of Snowmass.
