Created on: June 23, 2008   Last Updated: July 29, 2008

An abundance of 4th of July celebrations take place across the United States every year. The venues may vary, but the punctuation of the day generally ends the same way: a brilliant display of fireworks lighting up the sky and evoking the spirit of 1776 - the victory of the American Revolution. The following travel destinations are listed for suggestions sure to reward all with a memorable 4th of July experience.

BOSTON, MA
The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, a widely popular and well-known favorite 4th of July event, takes place on the Esplanade in Boston, Massachusetts along the Charles River. The celebration, free to the public on a first come first served basis, will surly delight all. The Boston Pops Orchestra provides music for the crowd annually followed by a spectacular show of fireworks. Held evenings on the 3rd and 4th of July, details about the event, lodging, and every detail imaginable may be found at www.july4th.org/faqs.htm or by calling 1-888-4th-POPS.

NEW YORK, NY
The Macy's Fireworks Spectacular may be known as the world's largest fireworks display and takes place on July 4th at approximately 9 p.m. Thousands of aerial shells and special effects are strategically planned to provide a fireworks show like no other. Great views of the show are offered from various locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn/Queens, and spectator boats in the East River. For additional information call Macy's Hotline at (212) 494-4495 or visit www.ny.com/holiday/july4.

WASHINGTON D.C.
The festivities begin the late morning hours of July 4th and extend throughout the day. Constitution Avenue marks the route for the Americans Independence Day Parade. Extending several blocks from 7th to 17th Street, approximately 300,000 spectators view the parade. Bands from around the country compete for an opportunity to participate in the parade, so viewers are treated to the brightest and best musicians performances. A National Folklife Festival takes place on the mall following the parade. It celebrates the various ethnic and cultural groups found across the United States. All events provide the prelude to the Concert at the Capitol Building sponsored by PBS and featuring the National Symphony Orchestra. This event is dubbed as one of the country's largest fireworks displays. For further information visit: http://july4thparade.com/index.html or call 1-800-215-6405.
