The Macy's Fireworks Spectacular may be known as the world's largest fireworks display and takes place on July 4th at approximately 9 p.m. Thousands of aerial shells and special effects are strategically planned to provide a fireworks show like no other. Great views of the show are offered from various locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn/Queens, and spectator boats in the East River. WASHINGTON D.C.
The festivities begin the late morning hours of July 4th and extend throughout the day. Constitution Avenue marks the route for the Americans Independence Day Parade. Extending several blocks from 7th to 17th Street, approximately 300,000 spectators view the parade. Bands from around the country compete for an opportunity to participate in the parade, so viewers are treated to the brightest and best musicians performances. A National Folklife Festival takes place on the mall following the parade. It celebrates the various ethnic and cultural groups found across the United States. All events provide the prelude to the Concert at the Capitol Building sponsored by PBS and featuring the National Symphony Orchestra.
