The Resurrection Of One
I mourn my immortal strength
with ruby tears
and sunlit woe,
and pain that bends my boughs
...but fails to break me.
Because I keep evolving,
restless roots that reach
while tiny brooms bloom
to sweep the past from my feet
...but not from memory.
See me stumped beneath the sun;
a heart felled young
by harshest hands
past my understanding
...but sprouts grow wild again.
I'll not rot in darker water,
nor break beneath
January's wind-
mocking limbs that falter;
...because I can't bear defeat.
My doubt bleeds to crimson sky
in longest night
seeking pale rays;
as frailty most would deny~
bows me before light's grace.
