GAG Order Films, a production company based in California and owned and operated by visionary filmmaker Tim Grace, has released its latest offering "The Lawn Boy" to select movie theaters. The romantic comedy features music by jazz guitarist Richard Hart from his album "Fearless Shores" made with his quartet, bassist Dorothy Soto, drummer Mark Winkel, and saxophonist Ron Munn with Hart arranging the songs and playing guitar. The film, which was written and co-produced by Arthur Marie, directed by Ron Gonzalez and produced by Tim Grace, premiered at the Hollywood Black Film Festival on June 5, 2008 in Beverly Hills, California, and later shown at the San Francisco Black Film Festival on June 8, 2008. The film has also played at Yoshi's Laemmie Music Hall 3 in San Francisco. All showings have experienced a hearty reception from audiences.
Tim Grace's goal is to take "The Lawn Boy" across the USA and possibly abroad with a storyline that addresses human prejudices and tests people's sense of security. The movie makes audiences laugh while feeling the heat during the tense moments in the film. The plot centers around a young, single white female named Jennifer, played by Melissa Odom, who comes from an affluent family and is having no luck with the guys that she has been dating until one day she comes across Michael, a young, African-American male played by Jordan K. Spradley. Michael works as a lawn manicurist, mowing other people's lawns for his income. Though his salary is modest and his family values love over money, Melissa is drawn to his kindness and understanding. Michael simplifies her life by re-directing her priorities and showing her that life can be enjoyable. All is fine until Jennifer and Michael want to tighten their bond and introduce each other to their respective parents. This is where the conflict begins and the movie handles the drama with comedy and human tenacity as the main characters fight against the forces that want to keep them apart.
Hart's music deepens the film's message by adding another dimension to the emotional scenes. His instrumentals run a gamut of emotions and radiate hope throughout the film. He tells how his affiliation with GAG Order Films began, "The story goes like this, approximately 9-months ago I was flying from Las Vegas to Amarillo to perform in Oklahoma. I met a gentleman by the name of Jason Prisoc while on the flight and we struck up a conversation about where we
