Poetry: Who I am

by Cortland Mccabe

Created on: June 23, 2008

This child bares the name of a hero.
He dare not say it nor hear it for he is ashamed.
He is ashamed to have such a powerful name and not live up to it.
He likes to sit and watch people pass by him.
They do not even give him a glance, is he invisible?
He watches them continue down their lost and lonely paths.
He knows that they hurt.
He knows that they cry but dare not tell a soul.
But everyone cries, it's well known, even people the likes of Hitler cry.

Hitler.

Such a sensitive topic to discuss.
To even remember the man with any detail is to support him.
WHAT?!
Just because one chooses to remember the darkest hours of history does not mean they like to.

History.

The majority of people like to recall the bad parts over the good.

HISTORY IS ONLY WHAT MAN MAKES IT.
HISTORY IS ONLY TO PASS, WHY HOLD ON TO IT?

The child can only think these things.
He dare not share them.
For if he does, he would only become HISTORY!
