Well considering that we just got married in our backyard on June 13, 2008, a Friday by the way, this is still fresh in my mind.
First off make a list of all that is going to be needed. Here is as follows how we did it and if you think about it you may be able to do it the same way...
1. Tables and chairs can be borrowed from any church (not having a function that day)
2. A local grocery chain will do a wedding cake for under $100 (ours was $91
3. We had a friend fix the food and bring it here...meatballs, fruit bowl made out of a watermelon..cheese tray with trees of broccoli and homemade dip and we purchased a 4 ft long sub for under $25 cut it into small sections and we made punch, had chips an dips for that
4. The arch was rented for the day for $31.50 at a local rental company...we decorated it with ballons and homemade bells.
5. Each guest was asked to bring their digital camera and uploaded to our computer after the reception..we have over three hundred pics and it was free photography most digital also have cam privileges so we had thirteen video shots of one being the entire wedding by a family member..
6. Use a boombox and put where it can be heard and designate a guest to start or stop the music when needed...
7. Our rings were purchased from a major discount store...it is the symbol not the price
8. The bride wore white Capri's and a white summer spaghetti top and with White flip flops the bouquet was made by a friend
9, The groom wore black dress slacks and a white button up shirt purchased at a discount store
10. The honeymoon was a trip back into our house with chocolate covered strawberries and each others company
but that is how we did it there are many more ways to save money such as making your own arch with lattice and 2x4s for under $40 dollars
11. Ask the guests to each bring a dish, include what they need to bring on their invitation
have a can by the entry to the backyard dressed up in pink and say donations for the bride's wedding...most will opt to do that instead of bringing a gift as it is much easier
12. Do not buy a new dress use what you have and incorporate it into something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue...something new is that my bride wore new white Capri's, something borrowed was a white blouse from my sister, something old was that she wore an antique necklace she owned and for the blue she wore a pink garter laced in blue the first kiss the wedding dance and the cutting of the cake and the first toast and things like that were all captured on film for free..we did not have to buy travel tickets no gas was used in the car and the electric was free as the whole honeymoon was done by candle light all weekend...leftovers for the honeymoon feast and total peace and quiet..
13. Put a note on the door saying it is your honeymoon "Please come back at a better time".
