The origin of "Spare the rod and spoil the child" explained

Jesus ever hitting a child?"

The Jesus who said, "See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." ...
"In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost."
Matthew 18:10,14

"Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such at these.""

Matthew 19:14

Jesus had a great love and a beautiful mercy for children. The word 'Christian' was brought on by a taunting in Biblical times of people that disliked Jesus and his followers. They would degrade them by calling them "Christ followers." This term is now simply, "Christian." To be Christian is to be like Christ. Christ's love and affection for children shows that he would never approve of anyone hurting one of his young ones. Not by hitting, by degrading, or by any other means of causing pain. To be a Christian parent is to discipline in a way that Jesus would approve of. Jesus was a great teacher because he was full of truth and also full of GRACE. A hitting parent is one that lacks grace with their children. People obey Christ's laws because they love and respect him, not because they fear him. In this same manner, our children should obey us.
