How to treat fleas in cats

How to get rid of fleas.

For years, we suffered with a heavy flea infestation in
our home. Every year, the fleas got worse and worse, until
finally we contemplated moving to a new home.
The cats were miserable! And, so were we.

And, then I discovered a few simple tricks to get rid of fleas.
These are easy and low cost ideas that are also natural.
Try out these easy flea busters and soon you'll be enjoying

a flea-free home!

1. To control and kill fleas on your cat, simply apply a thin coat
of Vaseline to the cat's neck and rub it in.

This won't harm the cat.

The neck area is where most fleas hide.
The Vaseline will kill the fleas. You can later wipe off the
Vaseline or allow your cat to clean himself.

The Vaseline will also assist in cat digestion,
which means fewer hairballs for the cat.

You can tell where the fleas are hiding out by
the presence of dried blood.

If you find black or brown dirt like particles on your
cat, then this is simply dried cat blood, from where the
flea has been feeding on your cat. You can spot apply
medication to those spots to relieve itching.

2. Dab a little bit of cedar oil onto your
cat's bedding and at various spots on the carpet and furniture.

Fleas are repelled by cedar oil.

You can also bathe your cat in cedar shampoo to naturally
remove fleas.

Of course, the best way to get rid of fleas is to prevent
them before they have a chance to infest your home.

3. Keep cats indoors. Don't allow them to associate with
other domestic animals that might have fleas.

4. Spray your yard with flea treatment
before, during and after summer time, when flea infestation is
heaviest.

Or, sprinkle Diatomaceous Earth around your yard.
This will kill the fleas, before they get indoors.

Cold weather should dispose of any remaining flea problems
and give you a head start on summer.

5. If you prefer an all natural flea buster solution and don't want to use
harmful chemicals, sprinkle food grade
Diatomaceous Earth onto carpet, furniture, etc.

You can even use small bits of Diatomaceous Earth as a flea
treatment powder directly applied to your cat or dog.

Be sure to vacuum carpets thoroughly after a few days to remove
remaining Diatomaceous Earth. And, bathe pets to remove residue.

Your flea problem should be gone.

Don't forget to use a flea spray that kills the flea eggs
that are waiting dormant, ready to hatch, in your carpet and yard.
That way, next summer you can enjoy flea free fun in the sun!

Hopefully, these tips will help you cut down on annoying fleas
so that you and your pet can enjoy a more pleasant home
environment.
