Problems with the world today

by Thaxton Lewis

Created on: June 22, 2008

There are always going to be problems with the world.

The biggest problem in the world today though, and one that leads to a myriad of the rest of the world's problems is wealth addiction.

The wealthy, and I do not mean movies stars and athletes,( though as I am conditioned to by day to day life and society to envy what they have I do wish I had more money, )I mean people who write the checks of the stars and athletes, the people who lobby Congress and control Senate, the people who raise our taxes or spend out money unwisely.

The greed of these people, who outsource jobs, always get tax breaks when they have astronomical sums of money, it is this greed that is our world's biggest problem.

After all, it is this greed that enables the health care system to demand excessive amounts of money from its citizens so that they can simpy keep themselves alive.

It is this greed that manufactures poor quality food and cars, destroys the environment, and demands people who can barely earn a living wage because shareholders want to put a cap on employee earnings to save their own incomes, it is this greed that is destroying our world.

Resources and labor, politicians and governments, all is laid to waste at the feet of heavy handed capitalists who want to cut every corner possible so that their already gigantic pockets can fit more money, while the poor man pile up gets taller and higher, and the despair gets darker and gloomier.

If these greedy people, if they simply let people earn a living wage, let them get health care, let them enjoy the fruits of their labors, if they would simply spend a little money instead of trying to horde it and waste human lives and time over pennies, if these greed mongers let others get a taste of the pie, maybe the world would be a better place.

Maybe America, the wealthiest nation on Earth, would not be home to some of the most illiterate people in the Industrialized World.

It is rediculous to see that this excessive greed is supported by government and spread like a disease across our world.

Greedy trillionaires need to realize that they cannot suck the planet lifeless and expect corpses to keep buying their products.

Their accumulation of wealth is rendered meaningless if their is nowhere for them to throw around their power and no one left to acknowledge their existence.

This voracious childish need for greed will eventually destroy the human world. It simply cannot sustain itself and we are now seeing the effects of that.
