We invariably are, who and what we believe ourselves to be. Although we are all born with certain strengths and weaknesses, barring some intellectual or physical disabilities, we all have the power within to be as successful as we want to be in life. All it takes is honorable intent, determination and a positive outlook and attitude.
Once success is truly defined within our minds, we can use that definition to achieve whatever success we wish to achieve in life. Often times though, we are held back from success by our own thoughts and beliefs.
Although our beliefs, morals and attitudes are formed very early in life through the influenece of our parents, teachers and society in general, we have the power within to change any aspect of those things, at any time. The sheer power of our brains and thought patterns is something most of us do not look closely enough at in life.
I liken our brains to a computer. Our computers will perform exactly as we program them to. If we do not like how our computers are performing, we can simply strip them down and reprogram them to serve our needs more efficiently. Although not easy, we can do the same things with our brains thus changing the very attitudes, beliefs and morals that may be outdated and holding us back from our success in life.
A Posititve Self Image:
Determining, objectively, what and who we really are in life may be the most difficult thing we ever do. We all have aspects of our personalities or lives that we don't believe are the most attractive. Identifying them is our first step towards success. Once identified, we must choose to do what it takes to change and improve on those less than desirable aspects of ourselves.
We all also have some very wonderful traits and we must learn to identify and truly honor those and accentuate them the most we can.
Once we have identified both the positive and negatives aspects of our personalities and made all the changes necessary to be the best we can be, we can move on to examining our self image. Self image is determined by what we truly think of ourselves, what negative self talk we may almost instinctively do from day to day.
How many times have you said something like "I am so stupid!" or other negative self talk? We all do it. None of us were raised in perfect environments where we were constantly and positively affirmed. We can however, learn to reprogram how we speak to ourselves. When we look in the mirror we need to see the beautiful and successful person looking back
