Vacationing in Aspen, Colorado this summer? Many Hollywood celebrities are drawn to the area, so perhaps on your vacation you'll catch a glimpse of Antonio Banderas, Kevin Costner, Michael Douglas or Jack Nicholson, all of whom have part-time residences in the area.
Aspen, Colorado is a picturesque mountain town that is located just a little over two hundred miles west from the bustling metropolis that is Denver. The ski lifts may be closed during the summer, but summer is still all about great fun in Aspen!
Do you enjoy listening to music? Every Thursday evening, thousands of locals and visitors gather at the base of Fanny Hill for a free outdoor concert. The open air concerts feature some of the best rock, R&B, soul and Latin music from all over the country. You know what this means, right? Time to get your groove on, and dance your Thursday night away to the sounds of some great music! If you just want to relax and listen to the music, be sure to bring a lawn chair to kick back in, along with a picnic dinner for an outdoor dining experience.
You say you want to do something a little more strenuous while vacationing in Aspen? Not a problem! If you love biking, there are all kinds of places to ride in Aspen. Whether it is mountain biking, road biking or just taking a leisurely stroll through town, you can find it all in Aspen. Mountain biking and mountainboarding lessons are available for anyone ages six and up at Camp Aspen/Snowmass, which is located at the end of the Snowmass Village Mall.
Biking isn't really your cup of tea? How about hiking to the top of Aspen Mountain? You can choose from an easy, self-guided hike to a more challenging trek. Make sure to stop by the gondola office at the bottom of Aspen Mountain for trail information and a map.
Perhaps you want to do some fishing while in Aspen. The Roaring Fork Valley is home to many beautiful settings for both experienced and beginning angels alike. Would you like to take your children with you on a fishing trip? The Rocky Mountain Trout Fishing For Kids is hosted by a group of experienced guides, and will help children ages 4-12 land a Rocky Mountain rainbow trout.
