A Plea to All
Alone at the door I peer inside,
At the peace that fills the room;
My bride, my child, my baby,
Awash in the light of the moon.
Faces filled with sweet serenity,
Each radiant in slumber's bliss,
All the world's riches could never compensate,
For treasures such as this.
What has become of love and peace,
Must we only see it when we sleep;
Can we not live our lives together,
Do our wounds run so deep?
Must we let the color of skin,
Or even the land where each was born,
Make us combatants of one another,
Not mending a heart that's torn.
Isn't it time to stop the battles,
Unite as one with a hug and kiss;
All the world's riches could never compensate,
For treasures such as this.
* Written as an earnest plea for all of us to save our world, and our children's world from it's greatest enemy: Ourselves.
