It was a shock to wake up this morning and hear that he had been hung. Is this going to be how the new Iraq will continue, killings on the streets, killing in the courts, how is a country ever going to find peace with death in so many facets of the society?

Margaret Beckett, British Foreign Secretary, had a few things to say about the execution:

"The British government does not support the use of the death penalty, in Iraq or anywhere else. We advocate an end to the death penalty worldwide, regardless of the individual or the crime,"

"We have made our position very clear to the Iraqi authorities, but we respect their decision as that of a sovereign nation."

Funny, if the response to human rights violations in a "sovereign" Iraq was a telling off from Margaret Beckett, I don't think that we would have invaded in the first place. Don't get me wrong, Saddam and all his party should be tried and punished for their crimes, but the death sentence is something that I will never support. The multimedia execution is also a new and sickening thing to behold. I'm sure there are some clips going around youTube right now that are whacky edits of the execution, sure to raise a giggle.
If we really want to make sure that he's dead, why not take televising the execution to it's logical conclusion and install a webcam in his coffin? As countless horror movies have taught us, Evil Never Sleeps! Make sure he STAYS DEAD! Then I could make my own youTube movies, with me reading Emily Dickenson poems dubbed over the top.
I can see it now. The Camcorder Jihad Against Evil!
