Organizing a 4th of July hot dog eating contest

Organizing a July 4th hot dog eating contest can be quite a task, but the benefits come with every bite.

Find Helpers to Assist

First comes the scouting of helpers. You must take it upon yourself to become one of the first 'judges' since you are conducting this Fourth of July event. Pick another person to also be a 'judge' as their job would be to give another view should there be a question about the winners status. They would be called 'the tie breaker'. Start spreading the word about your July 4th hot dog eating contest and begin a list of contestants.

Set a Time

Set a time for the duration of the contest that everyone in the contest can agree upon and advertise it to your family, friends and neighbors so that they can also take part within this event, whether audience or partaking within the contest itself.

Purchase Hot Dogs

You can purchase in huge bulk at your local BJs Warehouse or Sams Club. It would be advised to pick up a couple packs of buns, a bottle of ketchup and mustard so you can feed your guests in the process. Purchasing water is best yet try to please everyone and ask what beverage they wish to drink. Create a comfortable dish for your guests with some chips on the side. Make sure that you do purchase enough water due to the summer warmth and your guests may require more water. You also may want to pick out a water boy or girl for you will need them for the simple task of refilling water for the contestants as explained below.

Seating Arrangements & Area Layouts

Placing enough seats for your guests would be wise as placing two tables near each other for the contestants and the needed supplies. Upon one table you would place the hot dogs and many pitchers of water in case you may need them. Upon the other table, where the contestants sit, there should be timers to show them how much time is left for them to engulf the hot dogs as well as plastic cups of water filled at all times. Even if the person finishes the water, there should be a water boy or girl filling up the cups.

Trashcans should be placed out as well to keep all areas clean at all times. A bucket should be placed next to each contestant in case of tummy overload. People can vomit if they stuff too much food into the stomach in a short amount of time. A bucket will help with this cause. A small bowl with a cloth in water is great for the contestants to wipe off their warm foreheads as the hot sun shines down during Independence Day. A dry cloth should
