At 6000 ft, the air is mild, the sun is shining bright, and the view is spectacular. You must be in Sun Valley Idaho. What is there to do you ask? Well, follow along my friend and discover what this little slice of heaven has to offer you in the summer time.
Why not spend an afternoon traveling the mountains like they used to. Horseback riding is a wonderful way to explore the majestic beauty of Sun Valley and there are as many trails as there are outfitters. You can even book a wagon ride at the Horseman's Center in the Sun Valley Resort to really get that pioneer experience. If you want to try something just a little bit different, llama riding might be just what you need. Several groups offer this unique and fun way to travel.
If 2 wheels, the rush of adrenaline, and the possibility of becoming a permanent fixture of a tree are more to your liking, well then, you have plenty of options here. Sun Valley may very well be the BEST place in the entire country for mountain biking. People come from all over just to ride these trails. With so many hundreds of miles to choose from, those looking for an easy experience might consider Corral Creek and Lane's Trail. For the mid-level rider, you might find Proctor Mtn. to be your kind of trail. At roughly 6.5 miles, expert riders would enjoy Fox Creek Trail. Something altogether different would be to ride the ski lifts up Bald Mountain and bike back down. Starting July 1st, you can do just that at the Sun Valley Resort. The first lift is at 9 a.m. and the last round trip is at 3:15 p.m. Adults are $20 for an all day pass, kids 3-12 will run you $10. Helmets and signed waiver are required.
Don't forget the golf bag when you come to Idaho. Teeing off at 6000 feet may trick you into thinking that you are Tiger. Just another piece of our heavenly pie here in Sun Valley. We have some of the most beautiful scenery for your golf outing. Nestled in among the mountain ranges you may find yourself being challenged by the lush rolling landscape that these courses have to offer. There are several to choose from and this summer a new 9 hole course is being added to the mix.
When you want to slow down, stop and smell the roses at the Sawtooth Botanical Garden. July 12th marks the 13th Annual Garden Tour which takes place from 10-2 and will run you $35. The tour features seven wonderful gardens each manned with plant experts, artists and even musicians to complete your relaxing experience. Be sure to visit the Botanical Garden later in
