Finding casting calls for reality TV

Finding casting calls for reality television is really not that hard to do. You just have to know where to look. And there is plenty of places to do that. It's actually getting cast that is the hard part.

Reality shows have really taken off in the last few years and new ones are popping up like popcorn. There is a reality show for everyone. When a reality show is tremendously successful, like American Idol, the all too familiar spin offs begin, like Don't Forget the Lyrics and the Singing Bee. I love them all, but even the spin offs have spin offs, like America's Got Talent. Believe me, if you have a talent, or even if you don't, there IS a reality show for YOU.

To find casting calls, the first place I always look is the network websites like cbs. com and abc.com. They all list casting calls for their reality shows right on the bottom of their homepage. Also search your local area free online classifieds like craigslist and backpage. They will have an area for tv work and/or auditions.

If you do not have a computer with internet access at home or work you are going to need to go to the library to use theirs. If you are on Craigslist or backpage be oh so careful not to click on any of the adult only areas as this is a VERY BIG no no in the public library. You don't want to get banned for life from the library, or have the little old librarian thinking your a pervert. Not good.

In my area we have free entertainment papers around town. They are great for listing auditions. Check these weekly. They can usually be found near Thrify Nickel and The Greensheet paper stands.

Go to your favorite search engines and type in your cities name and reality tv to see what comes up. Check other online classifieds, including your local paper. Google your city + auditions. Let this lead you to local audition sites like dfwtheater.com, sometimes they will list all kinds of non theater casting calls on these sites as well.

Be prepared. These casting calls will be listed just a few days before they want you, especially if found in your local area classified listings. Check back at the good sites often, and regularly so you don't miss out. Many times I have found a casting call just a few days after the deadline. There is nothing worse than a missed opportunity.

If you really want to be on reality tv then dedicate some time each day to looking for casting calls. Focus on what you want or need and how you think you might be able to get there. Then after you know what it is your really looking for, you can go find it. After all, reality is what YOU make of it.
