Angels are part of our essence, our very breath, and enable persons to take crucial steps in life. When we are in our darkest hour and feel as if we have no recourse, angels are there telling us "everything will be okay" and he or she gains a sense of calmness after the harsh storm. We are continually comforted, watched over, and if one has a six sense, he or she can actually feel the angel's presence. I have two examples of angels and how they are there when we need them.

1. My father was a policeman in the early seventies and he was shot in the line of duty. He was dead on arrival but they revived him. He conveyed to the family after he was stable that there was a woman who looked angelic that sat with him when he saw the light and guided him back to life because it was not his time yet. Also his mother and father were at the end of the tunnel gesturing with their hands, "go back"and then she looked at him and smiled and he was shocked back into life. Since this time my father is not longer afraid of death because as he states, "the afterlife is beautiful and everything is loving and calm." My father never believed in anything religious but I feel this is God's way of sayingyes BillI am here.

2. One night I was sleeping and I started to dream about my grandmother. She came to me but she looked like an angel and she was hovering over me angelically. She looked younger as if she were in her earlier pictures. She was caressing my face and smiling and I jumped up in bed and I had no breath and was having a hard time breathing. Needless to say, I have sleep apnea and without her waking me to breathe, I may have perished and gone unknown about my condition.

These are just a few examples of how angels work. I truly believe in them and at times in my home I smell my grandmothers perfume, or I smell her home and I know she is with me. I feel as if the love for family can be so strong that even in the afterlife he or she can feel this love unconditionally. At times we think about our relatives that have passed and they may or may not be our angels but they are among us and show us everyday even in the smallest way. People need to have an open mind and I know there are many critics on this subject and my feelings are that these critics just have no idea unless he or she actually experiences for himself. Once he or she experiences an angelic moment they will never be the same.
