Nightmare Vacation !
Married, I thought, I am actually married and on honeymoon
The start of a new era in life!
Kevin appeared to be kicking his heels but had taken my hand so I slowed down to his pace as we spotted the taxi rank and headed towards it.
"Drakeland's Hotel "said Kevin to the driver as we settled into the back of the bright yellow taxi. We had just been on a two hour train ride and were desperate to get settled in our hotel.
"No problem mate ", replied the driver, "been here before?"
"I have, but a few years ago now..it's our honeymoon " I chipped in.
As we drew up in front of the hotel, Kevin started
"Don't like it," he said.."It's too far from the sea, can't even see the sea, It doesn't look very nice..not posh enough..not the sort of place I want to stay at "
I couldn't believe what I was hearing, why oh why did he have to revert to form on their special day
He had only been out of hospital a few days but, as the doctor's had said there was nothing wrong with him, it was all in his head. So now he was trying to steal the show and get my attention by throwing a strop
I could feel it coming There was no earthly reason to moan about the hotel, it looked so inviting .
The driver unloaded our two cases, put them on the pavement in front of the hotel entrance, and made his get away. Kevin hesitated as we walked towards the entrance.
"Come on love ", I said "lets get you safely in the room and we can relax, get you some rest "
I had to remain concerned , just in case the doctors had got it wrong and there was something wrong with him
Kevin made his way into the hotel entrance, and announced our arrival to the young guy at reception . his face still expressing displeasure at the sight of our honeymoon retreat
He was given the key after completing the customary registration forms and we made our way to the lift following directions to find the room.
The entrance hall was tastefully decorated, homely and inviting. I could see the signs to the gym and swimming pool. I was so excited !
I wondered how he had managed to get himself this far, and thought he was going to cause a scene at reception. I was obviously being too negative.
The lift arrived at the third floor, we were to turn left, walk along the corridor, pass through two sets of fire doors, and find our room on the right hand side near the end. By the time we had walked half way along the corridor ,Kevin was complaining that it was too far to walk..
"Cant go this far, can't do this every day, can't do this now, feel
