Downloadable game reviews: Rag Doll Masters

Rag Doll Masters is a very simple game to play. You control a stick figure that floats around in a rectangular space that is void of gravity. You use the arrow keys to float around and attack your enemies. The figure attacks by hitting an enemy with one of your limbs. By correctly using the arrow keys, the figure can do flips to hopefully land a blow to the enemy. When a unit starts to take some damage the unit will display a red tint. This is especially useful for telling how close you are to killing your foes - the darker the shade of red, the more damaged the enemy is.

It is very easy to get hooked to this game. Because the game is so easy to play while providing a bit of entertainment, it is easy to get caught playing this game for a longer time than originally desired. However, Rag Doll Masters is one of those games that you play for a while and then think to yourself, "Wow, I cannot believe I played that game for as long as I did." It is the type of game that you play when you want to relax without having to work your mind a whole lot. Moreover, Rag Doll Masters is definitely a good game in that it can easily provide people with some cheap entertainment; however, it is hard to classify it as a great game.

While fun, this game is a little bit too simple. Not much changes from stage to stage except the strength, appearance or amount of enemies. The stick figure you control maintains the same look and still uses the same movement keys without any new abilities. The levels themselves look almost identical with a similar rectangular atmosphere to float around in. As a result, Rag Doll Masters is a game that is worth downloading to try out, but not worth spending money on.

Rag Doll Masters has quality high-paced music - the kind you might listen to if you really wanted to get pumped up. The graphics, on the other hand, are not much to look at. The graphics are two-dimensional and very plain. The stages use very basic coloration, often looking like something from either an original IBM screen or the green and black coding from The Matrix. The simple graphics definitely go along with how simple the game is.

Overall, Rag Doll Masters gets a rating of 3/5. This game is able to provide brief entertainment, but like your average addicting flash game, it is not a game you want to invest in.
