Everyday Minerals is an internet-based company selling mineral makeup at very affordable prices. I came across the website while doing a search on mineral makeup as I needed to get away from using the conventional drugstore brands which caused my face to break out in pimples and clogged pores.
I had such fun looking through the website! There are so many different colours and I was just entranced by the range of blush and eyeshadow colours available. But to the point, I'm here to review the foundations so let's get to that.
Most women would know how hard it is to get the perfect match for foundation. Everyday Minerals caters to this difficulty by providing free sample kits on their website, which contain a very generous 1g of powdered foundation per container. All you have to do is pay for the shipping.
The kit comes complete with 3 sample foundations, 1 concealer and 1 blush colour. The kit is completely customisable, so you can pick any of the colours available in those categories on the website.
The foundations from Everyday Minerals comes in 6 different colour categories, each of which is suited to a particular skin tone. The site has a help guide to assist you in determining the right shade and tone for yourself, and the forum community also seems very willing to help out. The foundations also come in 4 different formulations to suit your skin type. When ordering the sample kit, I would suggest getting 3 different foundation colours in different formulations so that you can test out how it feels on your skin.
For my sample kit, I ordered Golden Medium from the Olive category, in Matte, Semi-Matte and Intensive formulations. I managed to get hold of one in Original Glo from a friend in order to complete this review.
First off, the coverage of the foundation is fantastic. You don't need very much of the foundation at all to get full and even coverage, provided that you follow the technique recommended by the forum community. I found that the powder didn't sit in my pores at all, and that it gave me a dewy look with a subtle glow. It wasn't shiny or ashy in appearance at all.
The Semi-Matte formula is for combination skin, according to the website. The finish has a very nice subtle glow to it, but I found that my nose and forehead were getting shiny within a couple of hours of application.
The Matte formula is suitable for more oily skin and as the name implies, the finish is matte. I found the oil control very good, needing to blot only once throughout the whole day.
The Intensive formula is for all skin types. The semi-matte formula provides better oil-control than the intensive formula.
The Original Glo formula is very sheer. I would recommend this one for those with already near flawless complexions.
The beauty of the powdered foundation is that you can mix and match the different colours available to find your exact shade. Mixing of different formulations is also easy in order to achieve the desired results. I found that mixing the Matte formula with the Intensive gave the best results for my combination skin.
Overall, the foundation from Everyday Minerals gets a big thumbs up from me. The coverage is very good, my skin has cleared up quite a bit since I swapped over to using their foundation, and the makeup lasts throughout my workday. I love the finish on my skin; it looks so dewy and completely natural, so much so that colleagues have commented that they didn't know it was makeup. And to give you an idea of how generous the sample kit is, I'm still trying to finish off my samples after almost a month and the full-sized kit I ordered is still waiting unopened.
