The politics of outrage

by Samuel Hitchens

Created on: June 20, 2008

Most recently on the liberal Democrat think tank, The View, Michele Obama had a chance to vindicate her red, white and blue self. She previously said, "for the first time in her adult life she was REALLY proud of this country." Now if your Whoopi Goldberg this means that you've always loved America, but now you just love it more. If your a person with any intelligence or self respect, you will most likely come to the conclusion that Michele was never REALLY proud of this country until then.

Michele Obama in no way, shape, or form intended her comments to reflect anything other than disgust for this country. What the average white man is thinking ( because polls say the average black man is Obama-fied") is how can Barack and Michele blatantly belittle so much of this great country and not be accountable. There shouldn't be any citizen or illegal alien for that matter, that can sit here and pretend not to notice the terrifyingly large amount of black people that are voting strictly on race,
but there is. I don't know what is more pathetic, people voting on color or the people who justify them.

When Obama supporters are left stupefied, struggling to give a legitimate answer for supporting Barack, they play the change card. The change chant, like a peaceful winged savior, an epiphany from the Obama compound, some new prophetic revaluation. One which usually begs the question, what change? Then the glaze sets over the eye's and back comes the stupefied look followed by these pearls of wisdom, "Any change will be better than what we have now. So a vote for Obama is a vote against the last four years of war and economic despair." I didn't know Bush was running for a third term.

The Obama change mantra induces some sort of security and reprieve from reality. What if the change was another attack on U.S soil? What if it were more televised beheadings? What if the change was catastrophic, due to Baracks undeniable inexperience? It is as if people who hate George Bush do not realize, that with or without him, we would be in the cross hairs of Islamic terrorist. They do not only despise George Bush, they detest our way of life, freedom and democracy.

Americans are relying more and more on the government to solve its problems, no matter the repercussions. Examine the facts, we are encouraging the nomination of a man who scorns democracy. Obama supports gigantic government, are we willing to surrender our freedom, just because we can't schedule time in the daily planner to help ourselves? Do we want government mandating how far we can commute per day and how much food, energy, and air we can consume? Obama will bring it. There is a cost we pay for electing a vast powerful government, it's called freedom. The liberal democrats like Obama would like nothing more than to make this a socialist nation and an atheistic police state.

The most responsible thing we can do as Americans is look past race and into substance. If, at most, Mr. And Mrs. Obama we held accountable for rhetoric, the light of reasoning would expose their contradictions, anti patriotism, radical and socialistic endeavors. Another striking trend is all the middle class Americans who don't seem to mind this elitist left wing couple. A pair that is endorsed daily by rich celebrities who think middle Americans " commoners " like us should be told by them how to exist, because we are too ignorant and unenlightened. The Obama's look at home with hollywoods granola and hemp preachers, gazing down their noses at us fat filthy Americans. We are held accountable every day for choices, religion, teachers, economic decisions, and most of all our character. Why aren't we expecting the same from the Obama's?
