Where to Stay
There are 2 areas that are best to stay around Aspen, one is Snowmass village and the other is Aspen itself. The Snowmass village is about 8 miles from the Airport and most resorts conveniently offer airport shuttle service. The Snowmass Inn in Aspen has reasonable rates and great location. It is really close to all the shopping and dining in the area. They offer complimentary breakfast and transportation. It also has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub which are great to relax after a busy day.
The other one is a condoplex in Snowmass Village which is right on the Fanny Hill, a wonderfully convenient location close to all the essential necessities. Condos offer much more space than small hotel rooms and usually are more economical and comfortable. It's like a home away from home. It also has a great ski in and ski out location which is excellent and extremely convenient in winter.
What to do
1. Winter: Everybody knows that Aspen is THE destination for skiers all around the country. In winter it turns into a skiers paradise and rightly so, because of the four major ski areas namely Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, and Buttermilk. The aspen mountain lift is the world's longest chairlift. These have great slopes for all levels of skiers from beginners to the highly skilled ones. The ski season starts in November and ends in April.
2. Summer: You can go hiking or biking on the beautiful nature trails all around the town. The Government mountain biking trial which connects the Snowmass Village and Aspen is especially wonderful when you cross several streams on a pretty ride through forested hills.
