You may come when I have gone.
You may whither when I am strong.
I know not when you will decide on me.
You know not if I am who you see.
I often wait for your arrival.
I seldom hope for your return.
I'm idle in my waiting,
Because I know you are not there.
The window panes have grown quite frosty,
But the seasons have made them dusty,
And every now and then, I see your face,
Amidst the shadows of the darkness in the rain.
You may come when I have gone.
You may whiter when I am strong.
I know not when you will return.
You know not if your love I've earned.
