Poetry: Do unto others

by Donna Marie Gray

REMEMBER ME

What is it we are seeking
As we make our way on earth?
Is it really fame and fortune
That determines what we're worth?

Having wealth and recognition
May meet our earthly needs,
But when we step beyond this plain
We are judged upon our deeds.

Approach life with compassion,
Share the joy as well as pain;
For the value of true friendship
Outlasts monetary gain.

All the memories last forever
With those we leave behind;
They become a living legacy
Transcending space and time.
