he was just spewing words, because all husbands are expected to say things like that about their wives. After all, her husband did.

I shuddered. It was clear to me that she truly believed that her husband didn't mean any of the compliments or praises that he'd given her; he was saying it because it was his duty. That's what she believed.

I argued with her quite adamantly about it all. Patrick doesn't do 'lip service'. In his soul, he knows, not believes, that Lisa is a bright, talented, beautiful lady who just never got her break, like he did with Dirty Dancing. In fact, it was Lisa who wrote and directed their critically acclaimed dance movie, "One Last Dance."

Their passion for each other and their nation of two is one of the reasons I became a Patrick Swayze fan. It's his heart and soul that draws me into his work and his life. He's never disappointed me. He learns something from each movie he makes; they all affect him in some way or another, and that's a big part of what makes him special as an actor.

In March of 2008, Patrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the most deadliest cancer known to us. The press wrote him off, giving him five weeks to live. Now, we're approaching the new year for 2009, nine full months later, and he's still here. In fact, he completed shooting the first full season of a new TV series for A&E called "The Beast." It begins airing in January. With the media watching his every move while filming on location in Chicago, Patrick showed just how much strength he has. He smiled, waved, and went about his business. According to reports, he missed only two days of filming due to his cancer.

Still, the press hounds him, and the tabloids cruely write stories about him being on his death bed. They have no concern for his elderly mother, or his brothers who must hear about these lies. The media wants a story, even if they have to invent one. Patrick is fighting back. Due to the tabloid press' relentless tormenting of his condition, he and Lisa sat down with Barbara Walters earlier this month for an interview. It airs one week from the writing of this article. Together, they will bravely share their pain of dealing with this killer cancer.

Strength of heart. Patrick has overcome a lot in his life. He thinks of pain as part of life. He actually lived by that artist mentality that you have to hurt to do well. He lives in the now, in the positive of life, in the spirituality of the soul. He believes, and he's winning.

There are no guarantees.
