In the mind of this author, the endurance of heat is simply not an issue. I crave the heat and despise winter weather. This would make one wonder why I live in Wisconsin. Well, my wife was born and raised in this state and most of her family still resides here. In addition, she and my daughter both are very fair-skinned freckled redheads who sunburn quite easily. Pleas to my wife to relocate to a sunnier, warmer climate thus far have fallen upon deaf ears. The best scenario I can hope for is that we will become "snowbirds" upon retirement age, but unfortunately, that's still the better part of 20 years away.
To be honest, I have never been to the Caribbean. In fact, the closest I've been to this intriguing paradise is Orlando, Florida. But you must keep in mind that Illinois, the state I originally hail from, is like the Caribbean when compared to the cold, gloomy confines of Wisconsin. One wouldn't think that 300 or so miles further north would make much of a difference, but it indeed does. Wisconsin is much colder; about 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit on any given day of the year; and perhaps worst of all, much cloudier. I've never liked cold weather and as I age, I tolerate it even less. In fact, I have a saying: If palm trees don't grow where you live, then it's too cold. As a result, I would go to the Caribbean any time; winter or summer. I simply envy people like Jimmy Buffet.
As mentioned previously, we travel to Orlando approximately every other year to visit Disney World. It has always been in the wintertime, and it's wonderful to be able to wear shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops in the middle of February. When the time comes to return to Minneapolis (our nearest major airport), I practically have to be dragged, and moreover; kicking and screaming onto the plane; for I know what is in store when we get back: 2-3 more months of miserable cold and virtually no sunshine.
To conclude, I would have no problems dealing with the increased heat of summer in the Caribbean. My idea of the perfect daytime temperature is about 90 degrees, anyway. Admittedly, I've never even been to Florida during the summer months; and some say the humidity is miserable. But I'll tell you something: I'd rather have 100 degrees with 90% humidity than the bitter cold of winter any day, and as far as that goes, even in the Wisconsin summertime a sunny day is about as commonplace as payday.
So go ahead. Book my flight to the Caribbean in July or August. My bags will be packed sooner than you could blink an eye.
