Senior Don't All Go To Bed Before 9:00 PM
Seniors may have some needs that younger people don't have. Access, diet to name two, but that does not mean that their lives are boring or that they do not like to get out and enjoy the evening. This does not imply that New Year's Eve should be spent infront of the T.V. set waiting for the ball to drop in Time Square.
One of the most accomodating cities with lots of attractions and great fireworks that I have been to is Las Vegas Nevada. Yes it may be a bit tacky and over-the-top, but the people in the service industry understand that seniors have special needs. For example, I brought my elderly father there and though he likes being mobile there was one night where he used a wheel chair which the hotel was more than happy to provide. Also, every restaurant I have been to in Las Vegas are more than happy to prepare something special if the dietary needs are such that individuals (seniors) need something special. Even the hostess at the buffets can tell you which food to avoid.
New Years Eve is a special night. Las Vegas goes out of its way to make it even more special. If you are a senior, everyone at your hotel will assist you to make sure that you have everything you need to make the evening fun and comfortable. You do not have to be a gambler to enjoy Las Vegas. The shows are great and there is no shortage of places to eat or things to see. Many seniors are budget concious and watch spending. Las Vegas can fit your budget without compromising quality or enjoyment. The Las Vegas strip for example has many attractions that cost absolutely nothing to the general public. It could be the volcano at the Mirage, the pirate show at Treasure Island or the fountains at the Bellagio. They are all free and quite enjoyable. So for seniors at New Year's in Las Vegas, here is a possible itinerary that would be quite feasible and fun!:
2:00pm Have a good nap,
4:00 Go and have a nice dinner, either a buffet or a sit-down
6:00 Work your way toward one of the great shows that usually start around 7:00pm
9:00 Go for a nice scenic walk on the Las Vegas strip
10:30 Go have a drink or go to a gaming table (the crowd outside is now building)
11:30 Go outside and find a good spot to stand or sit
12:00 You will witness one of the best fireworks displays you will ever see!
You will have an experience to share with your children and your grandchildren. The New Year's experience in Las Vegas is worthy and accomodating. Yes you may now be a senior but that simply means you need to go somewhere that understands your needs and does what they can to make New Year's Eve comfortable and enjoyable for you.
Seniors should also be aware that Las Vegas has very good health-care facilities and most locations have wheelchair access. Taxi-cabs are abundant and though crowded for New Year's Eve, it is not overbearing. You can find a comfortable spot without having to stand in the main crowd. Regardless of your vantage point, you will experience a great show of lights and glitter.
