What Is Spirituality? Spirituality can be defined as having faith in thing unseen. There are many Atheists that may argue that God does not exist... No evidence, scientifically impossible... the list goes on. Others, me included, believe there are equally as many reasons to believe that God does indeed exist.
Accepting God as your Heavenly (a.k.a. Spiritual) Father, and accepting Jesus Christ the son of God as your Savior is what defines Christianity. Spirituality and Christianity are in many ways alike, but differ in theory.
Whether you go to church or not, each of us has our own sense of how we interpret spirituality. You are spiritual if... you go to church, if you read the bible, if you believe in God... and so on. This theory suggests that spirituality comes from within, it's a feeling, a belief that a superior being exists.
The Bible is a testament of what life was like before and after Christ. It was years in the making, as it was an ongoing journal of the experiences of those who lived in that day and age. Biblical calendars reference "BC" and "AC" dates signifying the Before and After Christ era.
Miracles were a common occurrence in the days of Christ. Jesus was designated by God to be a teacher. He was instructed to spread the word of God, heal the sick, feed the hungry, and lead the way for those who chose to abide by Gods wishes, (no easy task for a common mortal). Jesus was blessed with the ability to heal the sick with the touch of his hand, and a few words spoken over the ailing. He feed an entire village of hungry people with a loaf of bread that was miraculously transformed into a feast. He drew water from a well that was later transformed from clear water into ruby red wine as it was being poured.
These are but a few things that support the idea of what we base our belief of Spirituality to be. I'm confident there are those who would suggest these are merely stories that have been made over the years, as opposed to happenings that lack the ability to be explained. While the Atheists may suggest there are no facts to support this belief, it is important to note there are no facts that support their theory either... It's a typical case of "he say... she say" and nobody unconditionally wins the argument hands down.
Spirituality is a powerful sense we base our perception of who we really are on. It's a driven force within us that dictates our way of thinking and how we act. It's what we base our values, ethics, and morales on. We can be defined as Spiritual by the way others perceive our actions and how we speak.
Communities of people gather in the name of Spirituality and worship in a central meeting place, commonly referred to as church, within their community. There are various perceptions of this Spirituality, thus resulting in different denominations such as Catholic, Mormon, and Methodist, to name a few. While these variations may differ slightly, the core of their belief is basically the same and we unite under the generalized title of Christians in this belief.
