Reflections: Everyday activities with a happy heart

Throughout our lifetimes, we all have to perform the ritual of being. Existence imposes activities which are not all enjoyable, which irk us and make us want to turn away from everyday things that need doing, putting them off until tomorrow. Assessing those activities and their essential place within our lives puts a very different perspective on them, and as they are going to be something that every human is involved in, it makes sense to approach life with a happy heart, as this has several advantages in helping a human being to overcome.

*Bitterness.
*Resentment.
*Disorder

All of these negative traits are encouraged by not wanting to do those things which need to be done. It is easy to pass blame to others, or to circumstance, though to achieve a happy heart, each motive has to be looked into and each aspect faced, since it is our approach that defines how happy we are within our lives, and also how that happiness reflects on others, making the picture of life more complete and filled with positive aspects or a cup "half full" instead of "half empty".

Bitterness.

Have you ever felt bitter at having to do jobs that others avoid ? How do they manage to avoid those mundane things when you seemingly cannot ? Bitterness is something that builds from long term resentment, and by tackling the things we need to do in a more positive manner, we can overcome to incidence of bitterness. Being bitter does very little to create an ambiance of happiness, whereas satisfaction that the job was well done is a far better reaction. Accepting our own limitations is one thing, though many neglect seeing their own strengths.

In a typical household for example, one may harbor bitterness for always having to clean up after others, though to see this in a fresh light, how about asking yourself why ? The fact that one has mundane things to do for others means that there is an element of need. Being needed is a wonderful feeling, and if we look at the roots of need, instead of feeling bitter, how the picture changes. Being needed even for mundane things gives us a sense of balance and purpose. There are ways to address different needs to create positive harmony, by returning need with like need and recognizing those elements of need we have for others. This makes us appreciate that if members of the family had no need of us, not only does this take away bitterness and twist it into loneliness, it also takes away the bonds that keep a family together.

Resentment.

Resentment is common in life.
