We see this in urban and rural communities alike, but often in different forms. They feel ostracized and disenchanted, so they've become uninvolved in politics for the most part.

Amongst these two groups, and those who fall somewhere in between, there are strays of young people who are involved and active. And, while it is no secret that there is an overwhelming apathetic population in the United States, the older generation is not free from charge either. For instance, I face baby-boomers everyday that epitomize apathy and close-mindedness. It is out of respect for them that I often have to slim down my lexicon to the point of anorexia - I mean this with no condescension, it is frankly the truth. I know many older people who care to possess no knowledge of current events, but occasionally and carelessly spew misguided opinions without regard for facts, which shows ignorance knows no age.

So, no matter which way you slice it and whom you blame, this is a problem that does exist. Though, I am confident that as major tribulations start coming to a head, like we're already beginning to see, we will begin to witness a different attitude in the populace, especially the young demographic. But I guess until then, like John Mayer, I'll be waiting on the world to change.
