Sexsomnia (sleep sex) symptoms

It goes without saying that any topic with the words sex and sleep gets men's attention. And, like most guys, I have two questions about Sexsomnia: First, what is it? Second, how do I get it. That is about all the typical guy really want to know about sexsomnia. Well, maybe a third question would be, Is there a cure?...but that would only be something we want to know so we don't accidentally do it and get cured.

Now first of all, let me say that I love to sleep. I would do it everyday if it weren't for the fact that I already do it almost every night. I have never met a bed I didn't like and even the hardest mattress can eventually be conquered if one is tired enough. Further, like tennis rackets, every bed (even a bed of nails!) has its 'sweet' spot that beckons one to unconsciousness if you can find it. [That was 'sweet' spot not 'g' spot-you're jumping ahead.] This does not mean I look down on those poor souls with insomnia who resort to sleeping pills in order to get some rest, or regard them as amateurs. No, they are serious about their sleep and don't take it for granted. In fact, sleeping pills are to serious sleepers what steroids are to baseball stars. Also, both work great as long as you don't overdo it. "And speaking about pills," you ask, "what about Viagra?" Okay, okay, I'm getting there.

The other topic of interest mentioned above, sex, has its own devotees who, without exception, are all unsatisfied! Too much, too little, too often, too fast, too slow...and some of it too bizarre to even count as sex! It is no wonder Aristotle classified sex as an appetite rather than a physical or mental aspect of human nature. Have you every heard anyone at the dinner table say, "That was such a great meal I will never eat again just to preserve this memory." No. Unless one is dining on cyanide, no one ever follows through on the vow that they could not eat another bite.

But eating and sex are not exactly analogous. While eating appeals to the body, sex has a uniquely spiritual quality that makes it a transcendent experience. That is why people in the throws of passion cry out, Oh, God, Oh God...that the height is ecstasy is called "rapture," and that intimate coupling expresses the essence of unity and oneness. On the other hand, there is also the hellish aspect of sexuality when one asks the next morning, What have I done? And how often has eighteen years of penance been the punishment for a moment of pleasure? However, as most men know instinctively,
