There are times in my life I feel stuck, and I don't know where to go. I feel like I can't make it out of the hole that I am in, and then I look at my children, and realize they are the next to make it on this big Earth. They can and I know they will! Sometimes we just need to clear our heads with a walk or read a good book or just make time to be with someone who treats you right.
Reflections of your life can be not always bad, you remember the time that you sang a song for an audience, and they were excited to hear you sing. You had spent many hours practicing, and worked hard. You made that song your own! They remember you by what you did for them that moment you were able to let them reflect on something different then their own problems. It goes hand in hand.
Reflections of a past time in your life where you made the mistake of taking a job, and you looked at it at the moment it was your career. You thought how hard you worked but something just didn't come together, like you were missing an ingredient from a recipe. Did you forget to put in the eggs or the milk? What was it that made your career at the time falter? Was it missing passion, the right place to work, the integrity of the people that worked there, the backstabbing that went on and on? What didn't make you the right fit for the job? Why it didn't happen for me, but it easily happened for Tim or Joe? The chemistry of the office flow I guess sometimes makes it or breaks it!
Reflections of our lives often happen when we have a loved one die in our lives. Why didn't we spend more time with them? Why didn't I hear a funny story about their lives as a homemaker when they won at the county fair for the number one pie? What was their favorite movie? What was it they wanted to be when they grew up? Did they want to be a homemaker, really? Maybe they wanted to build houses or boats, or perhaps, write a book under a different name. How did they reflect about their life?
Another time in my life I reflect about my life is when a new year comes around. I look at the past year, and see if there was something I accomplished that year, and what I didn't accomplish that year. What we did and what we didn't do?
My kids laugh at the times I put dye in my hair. They ask me why I do that. I don't really want to, but I must to appear younger in the world. I want to appear as young and vital to show I can do the job just as the 28 year old that comes out of college, and seems to think he or she has the bull by the horns or the big brass ring wrapped up for them. I must look the part, and do the best that I can to make it happen! To show I am not ready to see the rest of the horses in the pasture of "use to bees."
Women must work harder, keep their men happy, look sexy, and try to appeal to their clients, employers, other employees, and their peers.
Sometimes just being ourselves isn't enough. Some people can carry themselves like nothing is wrong, and it is all good.
But how do they do it? I wonder this all the time.
How do they make it look so easy?
