Is technology the key to alleviating world poverty?

Title endorsed in part by:

people in the world who don't have access to purified water, and where the poor, mostly children die every day because of diarrhea caused by contaminated water, and the only thing needed is DECISION, it is a matter of choice, and while men chooses the pursue of power and riches with selfish purposes nothing that technology can offer will change that.

But it is things like these that make the human spirit grow, and while the rest of the civilized world holds the technology to help with something "as simple" as purifying water for the needed, The Kenya Water for Health Organization has taught the women of Makina and Kibera how to use solar energy to disinfect and purify contaminated water. This technique commonly called SODIS uses regular plastic containers placed on top of the house roof leaving it for six hours under the sun, while the ultraviolet rays purify the water. What they haven't taught these women is that plastic when it gets warm releases a chemical toxin that can produce cancer. Yes, if you leave your bottled water in the car, the heat will release this chemical and produce cancer in your stomach in the long run.

The world would be a different place if the International Monetary Fund would understand that investing in education, nutrition, and social services would make the human more capable and prepared to be more productive in any field.

The technology exists; it is the will to alleviate world poverty what is missing.
