Cardmaking techniques for beginners

Do you look forward to receiving a card? Many people do. In fact, for a great majority of people it is a message that says they are loved, or thought of.
Cards can be bought for almost every occasion. From birthdays to condolence, from marriage to divorce. Thank you cards, thinking of you cards, Welcome cards. Yes, there are cards for whatever you want to say.

However, it is not always possible to obtain the card you want to say exactly what it is you wish to express to the recipient. So why not make your own, or if you don't feel that you could undertake the task sufficiently, there are many cardmakers who can design one to your criteria.

Making greeting cards is a wonderful hobby to enjoy with your family and friends. In fact, card making is becoming more and more popular and it's now a novelty to send handmade greeting cards.

Have you ever looked at a handmade card and thought to yourself, "How beautiful! I wish I knew how to make my own greeting cards." Well, now you can! Imagine people receiving your homemade greetings with your name on the back!
Making greeting cards is not difficult. A great many people are making cards as a relaxing and rewarding hobby and so can you. Make you own greeting cards and sign them by rubber stamping or fixing a label saying "Handcrafted by........."on the back of each of your handmade cards.

Taking up card making as a hobby is not expensive since you should have most of the supplies for making greeting cards in your home. For a basic homemade card, all you need is paper, cutter, glue and some color pencils. As you become more experienced then you can add the more elaborate tools, such as stamps, embossing boards, embellishments and all the other bits and pieces that make your card unique.

But though inexpensive, making greeting cards has many benefits.

As a cardmaker myself, I find great satisfaction in producing a card that is both unusual and appropriate. The compliments I have received and the recommendations from those who have received or ordered cards are the reward for the hardwork and hours put into the craft.

When you have everything you think you could possibly need, you now have to sit down and decide what size your card is going to be, what colours to use and for what occasion.

Then, when the card is finished, you can personalise it or include an insert with a verse. There are many websites where you can print off these if you are unable to compose one of your own.

After all this, you can sit back and wait for the compliments to pour in.
