How to cut bangs

Like all beauty processes that we seem to have, cutting bangs has it do's and it's don'ts. Cutting bangs is not a difficult task but I sure that many of us have seen or even been the one to cut our bangs above our fingers instead of below. Here are a few things to keep in mind when cutting your own bangs.

Cut them a little longer than what you think you want. It is far easier to cut off a little more than to wait for your bangs to grow back to the length that you want them.

If you have curly hair and are cutting your hair when it is wet, keep that in mind. Are you going to straighten your bangs every day to have your desired length?

When trying bangs for the first time, go with a bit of a longer bang or at least one that you can clip up. Some people just don't suit bangs and this is't somethihng that you will know until you do it. With this, you should also think about the shape of your face. It is said that if you have an oval face you should avoid the straight across "chopped" look if you are going with bangs. If your face is more of an oval shape avoid a really heavy bang. A square face is a good one for off center parts and wispy bangs. For most face shapes, an off center part works best and happens to be in style at the moment. Do not get fooled by the chopped bang that is emerging into style, this bang is only for certain people. Make sure you are one of those people before cutting your hair.

Think about thickness. If you have thin hair then chances are you don't want thick bangs. Think about what you plan on doing with your bangs and how much hair will work best. Play with the parts in your hair.

When doing a side part should you go to the left or to the right? Go to the side thaat your hair parts to naturally. Your hair will sit easier to one side than the other and that is the side that you should put your part to. If you are one of those people whose hair actually does whatever you want it to then you are very lucky and can choose which side you want.

Although this seems like a lot of thought to put into cutting bangs, it is really quite simple. It is amazing how much you can tell about your bangs just by using a brush. Play around with parts and thickness before you do any cutting and thy will turn out just fine. When in doubt, go to a hair dresser. Although your aim may be to save yourself money, go to the hair dresser the first time you want bangs and pay close attention. Find out from them what works best for you and you can continue you bang grooming after that.
