How to get rid of black mold

Black Mold is very toxic and very difficult to get rid of. Black Mold is also called Stachybotrys, in the scientific world. The best way to avoid problems, is to make sure there are no leaks or previous water damage. These conditions are ideal to sustain the growth of Black Mold. Prevention is the best policy.

In small areas, the clean up is fairly easy. Bleach is the best way to clean and disinfect the area. In large areas, it is best to seal off the room with plastic and duct tape to prevent the spores from spreading to other areas. All vents and door ways should be sealed. A fan should also be used to ventilate the area to an outside window. HVAC should also be turned off. Respirators and rubber gloves should be worn.

All measures should be taken to prevent the mold from touching your skin. Serious health problems have been caused by exposure to Black Mold.
There are many problems reported such as:

* Eye Irritation with Burning, Watery or Red Eyes
* Food Intolerance and Allergy
* Irritable Bowel Syndrome
* Memory Impairment
* Mood Swings
* Nasal and Sinus Congestion
* Nose and/or Throat Irritation
* Persistent Coughing
* Profound Headache
* Respiratory Problems (Asthma and other Infections)
* Skin Rashes or Irritation
* Suppression of Immune System

As you can see from the list above, this is a serious problem and needs to be addressed as soon as you become aware of it. This can be a costly mistake, both financially and health wise.

The best way to handle this problem is to have a remediation company come in and do it for you. There are aware of all precautions that are needed to remove the problem safely and insure that you will not have further problems.

Any signs of mold on your shower curtain should warrant immediate disposal of the curtain to prevent further contamination to other areas. Strange but true, this is also found on garlic and onions. So wash these vegetables carefully and disinfect the areas that they come in contact with.

Remember that moisture in products that contain cellulose, are the breeding grounds for mold. Paper, wood, carpet, etc. There have been documentaries where families have not been able to return to their homes due to contamination from Black Mold. It is an air-born allergen and is easily spread through out your home.

Prevention, prevention, prevention. Fix all leaks in your dwelling, to avoid this stubborn problem from occurring.
